I’m working with a small company that sells custom made chocolate things. They do it all but I’m focusing first on a better-known specialty:
We’re looking to offer something like the classical online shirt designer and similar customization tools.
The part I could use some help with is the preview. It’d be ideal to show how the selected combination looks, but there are so many variables that it isn’t practical. They can choose the type of box, its color, types of chocolates, the color of those chocolates, the color of the flower, the distribution…
I haven’t found examples for a complex product like this, except a Walmart’s cake design thing, and they go about it like this:
IMO that’s a bit ugly and more importantly way too complicated.
I thought about composing in a canvas with drawn-like pictures that are “easy” to colorize and compose but… it may be worse to misrepresent the product. I’d rather show a real picture of the most similar thing they chose, or parts of pictures that they selected.
Can you guys think of a solution? Do you think we should go without the preview? Do you know more examples like those?
