I am currently having a lot of issues coming up with a good way to create thumbnails for my portfolio categories on my website. The website currently looks like this, and I want to replace the squares with actual images for each category.

Current look of the page

Each category has a sub-category with images for various projects, however I don’t know how to properly display them. Some pages are more graphical than others, for instance, the programming page can’t really include an image to describe all of my work.

I thought of only showcasing my best work with one image for each category, however it wouldn’t be representable for the entire category.

I tried to create a combined view with multiple projects, but it just looks very tacky:

This becomes the combined image below:

Any help or resources regarding my issue would be most appreciated! If you know the best practices or have any suggestions, feel free to throw them my way! 🙂
